Sapevate che a ogni fascia d’età corrisponde un relativo fabbisogno di ore di sonno? In passato si era soliti dire che ogni individuo per riuscire a rigenerare il corpo e la mente e a recuperare le energie spese durante la giornata deve dormire 8 ore per notte. Ma adesso la National Sleep Fondation, un’istituzione americana che si occupa di approfondire i temi legati al sonno, ha stabilito che questo assioma è falso e ha pubblicato una tabella nella quale vengono indicate le ore di sonno consigliate in base all’età.
Gli estremi sono rappresentati dai neonati, che dormono circa 18 ore, e dagli anziani che hanno bisogno di 6 ore di sonno. E una donna attorno 50 anni quanto deve dormire? La risposta è precisa al millesimo di secondo: tra i 50 e i 60 anni bisognerebbe dormire 6 ore e 20 minuti. Dunque, se si va a letto a mezzanotte, per ritemprarsi è sufficiente fissare la sveglia alle 6.20. Insomma, sembrerebbe che le levatacce non facciano male alla salute, anzi siano indicate per mantenersi in forma. Tuttavia, prima di spaventarsi, specie se si è signore particolarmente pigre e dormiglione, vale la pena di ricordare che, come insegnano gli stessi esperti, il fattore che più influenza in termini di rigenerazione del corpo e della mente non è tanto la quantità di ore di sonno, ma la qualità del riposo. Dunque, l’importante non è quanto si dorme, ma come si dorme. E buonanotte alle tabelle troppo rigorose.
