Una Barbie è stata l’amica di avventure di molte di noi, da bambine. Lei è sempre stata una tosta, però alla moda ed elegante, e questo dettaglio ha permesso di riunire sotto l’egida delle Barbie-girls praticamente il 90% di noi. Essendo così figa sempre e comunque, la bambola più famosa del mondo inevitabilmente è sempre al passo coi tempi. In Uruguay, tra i profili social, ultimamente si trova anche il suo. Le sue creatici, due donne che preferiscono restare anonime, sognavano un personaggio abbastanza carismatico, ma allo stesso tempo mondano, perché le persone potessero provare empatia e identificarcisi. È nato così un progetto fatto di scatti e post, con protagonista la bambola che tutti conosciamo. È interessata ai temi sociali, è tifosa di calcio, porta a spasso il cagnolino, ma è anche piuttosto mondana, e soprattutto non è a dieta.
Sembra la descrizione dello stereotipo femminile del nuovo millennio. Come le chiamano? Donne Alfa? Ebbene, la Barbie contemporanea è una Donna Alfa di plastica, ed è pure molto attiva sui social: in Uruguay, sul suo profilo Instagram ha quasi 20mila followers, oltre 23mila su Facebook e qualche migliaio (266.000) anche su Twitter.
Nelle foto che condivide la si può vedere mentre legge libri, esce con gli amici e balla la cumbia. Ma anche mentre marcia contro la violenza sulle donne con le manifestanti del movimento «Ni una menos» e in favore dei diritti Lgbt. «Questa Barbie è come me e te», dicono in un’intervista per Al Jazeera le ideatrici del progetto, «lotta per le sue idee, paga le bollette e racconta i fatti suoi su Instagram».
